E.R. Gyde had photographic studios at 22 and 24 Pier Street, Aberystwyth and is listed in trade directories between at least 1875 and 1917.
When Edward married, aged 30 in 1873 was described as a photographer of Union Street, Swansea but soon moved to Aberystwyth where he later taught photography to his nephew, H H Davies of Aberystwyth.
He took a number of photographs of young and old women in Welsh costume.
