The Urdd Gobaith Cymru (Welsh League of Youth) was established in 1922 but there is little evidence that Welsh costume played an important part in their activities, unlike the Goodwill message of the Children of Wales to the Children on the World, broadcast annually from 1922, whose publications frequently depict children in Welsh costume.
When the International Federation of the League of Nations Societies met in Aberystwyth in 1926, Urdd children wore Welsh costume to welcome them and they also wore costume at the Peace Pageant also held in Aberystwyth, in 1926.
However, one of the few pictures of costume in the three-volume history of the Urdd, shows a woman in a pointed witch’s hat.
